Getting to know the Owner/Founder of  On the Horizon

Marnie Martin, SSWP

“The journey of raising my own children has taught me more then any textbook or University ever could. The struggles and the joy of parenting have no comparison. My real teachers have always been them.”

 – Marnie Martin

Hi, I’m Marnie. I was raised in Nova Scotia, but my family and I have been in Beaumont for the last seven years.

Since being here my kids did what all kids will do and have grown into teenagers - and I got married!

I love my family.

I have always had a deep passion and interest in early childhood development and - human psychology.

The troubles I experienced as a teenager, eventually led me to gaining a deep sense of  the importance of healthy human development. This is when I became intrigued with children – I eventually completed a variety of education.

Becoming a mother then motivated me to continue learning and I found methods to the madness of being parent! I thrived on learning and implementing theoretical strategies with my children at every stage and found satisfaction with the results. Their development usually felt successful because many trials were overcome.

Then I decided I would open a day home and share my seemingly natural abilities with other families. This was also very successful. Later I served in a Head Start classroom as a special need’s educational assistant. Here I developed a knowledge of special needs children. This too appeared to be a very natural skill for me, and I found it very fulfilling.

Now, I’m designing and facilitating programs that aim to empower children. These programs run through my business called On the Horizon offering a variety of delivery styles and content.

I have acquired the experience, and I have Natural Ability – and that gives me exactly what it takes to connect with, teach and hopefully influence children in a positive way! My Education is well rounded, and I have a variety of qualifications in the realm of Community, Social and Human Services.

Beginning with Personal Development Certification. This training taught me about the psychology of humans, and I learned a lot about myself.  Learning about yourself is a big step - if you want to grow and thrive as a person.

I also have a Children’s literature Diploma. I haven’t yet - but would love to write children’s books someday. I have completed one year of Human Services Studies to better understand Early Childhood Development. I am Certified as a Childcare worker and have a background in special needs.

Most recently I have become a Social Service Worker Professional. Taking this program has opened many doors for me and my plan is to serve children and families in my very own Community – Beaumont!

I appreciate you taking the time to get to know a little bit about me. I would love hearing from you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Marnie
